20th anniversary of 9th Guards Brigade
The 20th anniversary of the formation of the 9th Guards Brigade “Vukovi”, which was also attended by the Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces and the representative of the President, Lieutenant General Drago Lovrić, was celebrated today, 9 November 2012, in the “Eugen Kvaternik” Barracks in Gospić.
In his address, General Lovrić congratulated all members of the Brigade the 20th anniversary of the formation, adding that the 9th Guards Brigade had a key role in the Homeland War and honorably executed all combat missions. He also said that during the Homeland War, 49 members of the 9th Guards Brigade gave their lives for the free and independent Republic of Croatia, while 211 members of the Brigade were wounded. Their sacrifice will forever remind us of the courage, sacrifice and devotion of the Croatian soldiers and their selfless love for their country, General Lovrić said.
On this occasion, the Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces presented the 9th Guards Brigade “Vukovi” with the Charter of the Republic of Croatia for the 20th anniversary, signed by the President of the Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipović.
