ASDA 2013 International Defence Industry Exhibition Open

The President of the Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipović has today 24th April 2013 opened the second Adriatic Sea Defense and Aerospace Exhibition &Conference, which is taking place in the Spaladium Arena in Split, under the auspices of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and in co-operation of the Ministry of Defence.

The Exhibition has been organised by the TNT Production Inc. from the United States and it has gathered over hundred exhibitors from some twenty countries from Southeast and Western Europe, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East.

Opening the Exhibition the President Josipović has stated that security is now a concept far broader compared to the earlier understanding and comprises combating terrorism, organised crime and modern cybercrime, and also said that the Exhibition speaks of the Croatian Government’s policy regarding collective security principles. “I’m glad that  the Croatian military industry has a lot to display, and that the Exhibition serves as an occasion for further development of the relations among the countries in that aspect”. The President also expressed his conviction that the exchange of information would foster the future co-operation.

Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović has for his part emphasized that the ASDA Exhibition ASDA 2013 is a prime business event and an occasion to compare the respective achievements and new advancements in defence industry and a platform for contacts between the exhibitors and the customers. The Republic of Croatia, said Minister Kotromanović, has pledged full support to Croatian defence manufacturers.  
The Minister concluded with expressing the belief that the Exhibition would become a place for new business successes and for encounters with new ideas and products.

Justin Webb, the TNT Production Manager, on behalf of the organiser has stated that the ASDA objective is to provide a meeting place for governments and representatives of military and defence industries to discuss common defence strategies and technologies. He extended his gratitude on behalf of the company to the Government and the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia for the support and the assistance provided with organisation of the Exhibition.

The ASDA formal opening ceremony was attended by a number of senior government and military officials as well as senior foreign delegations and exhibitors’ representatives.

The ceremony programme included a demonstration exercise by Navy, Air Force and Air Defence, and the Special Operations Battalion units and a performance by the aerobatic group of the Croatian Air Force – the “Wings of Storm” and by the Military Police Corps, who displayed handling of the military working dogs.

The Exhibition remains open for visitors until 26 April 2013 and will include a series of bilateral meetings.
