Minister Krstičević and General Šundov met with the Chief of the General Staff of North Macedonia Lieutenant General Vasko Đurčinovski
The Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević and the Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces General Mirko Šundov on 16 July 2019 met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Army of North Macedonia Lieutenant General Vasko Đurčinovski, during his official visit to the Republic of Croatia and the Croatian Armed Forces.
Minister Krstičević and Chief of the General Staff of the Army of North Macedonia praised the range of defence co-operation in training and education and the co-operation within the U.S-Adriatic Charter.
Both sides reiterated interest in continuing the co-operation between the special forces, the support to the Army of North Macedonia with modernisation and adaptation to NATO standards.
Minister Krstičević pledged continued support to North Macedonia with its Euro-Atlantic integration. “Full NATO membership will positively affect the prosperity of the citizens of Macedonia and the general stability of southeast Europe. Croatia and North Macedonia have jointly contributed to NATO initiatives for years, notably through the deployment of the U.S. Adriatic Charter members in Resolute Support Mission”, said Minister Krstičević.
General Šundov and Lt. Gen. Đurčinovski discussed the cooperation betwen the Croatian Armed Forces and the Army of North Macedonia in the domains of the special forces and air forces, as well as joint military exercises.
The meetings were followed by a tour of the permanent display of military equipment and weapons in Dom HV in the Ministry of Defence.
Within the two-day visit the Macedonian delegation visited the International Military Operations Training Centre of the Croatian Army at Rakitje and the HS Produkt handgun manufacturing factory in Karlovac.
