Minister Vukelic met representatives of the U.S. Senate

Minister of Defence Branko Vukelic and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Gordan Jandrokovic met on Monday, February 15, at a working lunch, representatives of the United States Senate Jeanne Shaheen and George Voinovich, and the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia James Foley.

During the meeting they exchanged views on the current state of bilateral relations between Croatia and United States, on the cooperation in the UN peacekeeping missions and in ISAF mission in Afghanistan and on the current political and security situation in the region of Southeast Europe.
Ministers Jandrokovic and Vukelic thanked senators Shaheen and Voinovich for the given help to Croatia during the negotiations for membership in the North Atlantic Alliance and for the support on the path to the full membership in the European Union.
During the talks on the situation in the region of Southeast Europe, ministers noted that the Republic of Croatia, as a leader and a model country in the region, supports further strengthening of relations with neighbouring countries and provide an active contribution to regional cooperation, in addition to providing strong support for integration of Southeast Europe into the European Union and NATO.
