Minister Banožić pointed out that the arrival of the American aircraft carrier is proof of excellent cooperation between the United States and the Republic of Croatia and between the Croatian Armed Forces and US Navy, respectively.
On Monday, February 14, 2022, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković visited the American aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman, anchored in the Brač Channel near Split after a big NATO military exercise.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Defence Mario Banožić, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Davor Božinović, and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman.
On that occasion, Mr. Plenković met with Captain Gavin Duff, Commander of the USS Harry S. Truman, and Mark Fleming, Charge d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Croatia.
“We had the opportunity to learn about the experiences and assessment of the NATO-led maritime exercise Neptune Strike carried out in the Adriatic Sea as the members of the Croatian Navy and the Croatian Armed Forces participated in it as allies.“ The assessments of the contribution of our forces and the interoperability of Croatian soldiers with other allies are high,” said Mr. Plenković after the meeting.
“This shows how Croatia, as a NATO ally, contributes, together with its partners, to global security and security in Europe and here in the Mediterranean,” said the Prime Minister, adding that he was pleased that this cooperation would continue in the future.
Defence Minister Mario Banožić pointed out that the arrival of the impressive American aircraft carrier is proof of the excellent cooperation between the United States and the Republic of Croatia, as well as the Croatian Armed Forces and the US Navy.
“The Ministry of Defence will continue to support every project that can strengthen the capabilities and enhance modernization of the Croatian Armed Forces because, in this way, we are directly contributing to securing the peace in an increasingly challenging world,” said the Minister of Defence.
