Welcoming the “Wings of Storm” from 200th performance

The Aerobatic Team of the Croatian Air Force “Wings of Storm” on 16 September 2019 returned to its home base in the Barracks “Pukovnik Mirko Vukušić” at Zemunik following the jubilary 200th performance (at the “Sanicole Airshow“ in the Air Base Kleine Brogel in Belgium.

The formal welcoming, organised at the apron of the Air Base at Zemunik was attended the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević, by the Chief of Staff/Deputy Commander of the Croatian Air Force Brigadier General Michael Križanec and by the representatives of the local authorities (of the City of Zadar and of the Zadar County) .

“Welcome home! This is an important day for the Croatian Air Force and the overall Croatian Armed Forces. I am congratulating you on your jubilary 200th performance”. The Minister also said that the “Wings of Storm” belonged to the world’s top teams and a “victorious national aviation team” and extended appreciation to the air technicians and the rest of the personnel providing support to the Team.

The Minister announced the international military air show planned to be held in the Zemunik Air Base as an air show of great importance for Zadar and the Zadar County and for Croatia in general.

The Chief of Staff/Deputy Commander of the Croatian Air Force Brigadier General Križanec also congratulated the Team, and said it was a remarkable achievement. Brig Gen. Križanec highlighted the many trophies won by the Team for their performances.

“Wings of Storm” have performed at 200 events to date (143 at home and 57 abroad, at the most prestigious airshows in 15 European countries (Romania, Slovenia, Hungary, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, Poland, Denmark, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and France).

The Team is composed of the Captain Darko Belančić (Team Leader) , Major Ivan Anđić as 1st Left Wing, Captain Goran Grgić as 1st Right Wing, Major Zvonimir Mravunac as Slot and 1st Lieutenant Denis Živaljić as 2nd Left Wing and 1st Lieutenant Marko Novković as 2nd Right Wing.
