The homecoming ceremony for the 2nd HRVCON to United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon – (UNIFIL) was held in the Barracks “Kamensko” in Karlovac on 30 May 2019.

The ceremony was attended by the family members and by the Commander of the Croatian Army Major General Siniša Jurković, by Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander of the Croatian Army Brigadier General  Boris Šerić, by Captain (N) François Buj of the General Staff Operations Centre, by the Commander of the Engineer RegimentColonel Alan Srpak and other invitees.

The 2nd HRVCON Commander, Major Siniša Šlibar reported to the Croatian Army Commander, Major General  Siniša Jurković, who expressed appreciation to the Contingent for  their engagement in Lebanon.

“I can proudly stress that the Contingent, composed of both  young and experienced personnel has  fulfilled all assigned tasks; they benefitted from their engagement in Lebanon to familiarise with different methods  and approaches, and thereby  contributed to the development of the Croatian Army”, said Maj. Gen. Jurković.

“I can confirm that we came to Lebanon as strangers and left as friends of the Lebanes people”. Major Šlibar also underlined the HRVCON’s engagement in seven CIMIC projects assisting the local  community, presenting the Croatian soldiers as professionals and humans always willing to help and respecting the host  nation’s culture, customs and pride.

The engagement of the Croatian Contingent was also recognised by the Sector Commander and the members received written commendations.
 
The ceremony featured the presentation of awards and commendations to the meriting members of the Contingent.
