Minister meets with Ambassador of Slovenia
The Croatian Defence Ministar Josip Buljević on 5 May 2016 met with the Ambassador of Slovenia to the Republic of Croatia, H. E. Smiljana Knez.
The Ambassador and the Minister confirmed the good bilateral co-operation between the two neighbour and friendly countries sharing a long common history, including the productive co-operation in the domain of defence, as proved by the joint participation in the recently ended Exercise “Štit 16“.
Slovenia and Croatia have also co-operated in various multilateral initiatives and projects within NATO, the EU and the Central European Defence Co-operation (CEDC).
Minister Buljević updated Ambassador Knez on the prospective defence plans and priorities. The Ambassador and the Minister discussed the current global security and political situation, with the emphasis on the security challenges inherent in the migrant crisis and the situation in the Middle East.
The Minister underlined the importance of a unified standpoint of all EU members and their co-ordinated response could offer an effective response to the security and stability theats faced by Europe.
The two sides also re-confirmed the mutual commitment to the enlargement of the EU and NATO to southeast Europe and to assist the aspirant countries by sharing their own accession experience.
