All Saints Day Memorial mass for fallen defenders

On the occasion of All Saints Day and of All Souls Day, the memorial mass for all Croatian defenders was celebrated in Sveta Mati Slobode church in Zagreb, by the Military Ordinary Mons. Jure Bogdan on 2 November 2016.

The mass was attended by the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Božo Petrov, the Envoy of the President of the Republic,  Maja Čavlović, the Envoy of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, the Minister of Veterans Affairs, Tomo Medved, the delegations of the Ministry of Defence and of the Croatian Armed Forces (headed by Deputy Minister Tomislav Ivić and the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Mirko Šundov), the delegation of the Ministry of the Interior, the Croatian defenders and members of the associations from the Homerland War, and of the fallen and missing defenders’ families.

“We have gathered today to offer the sacrifice of our fallen defenders on the Lord’s altar; their love for the homeland, which they served devotedly, was immense; their sacrifice and their bravery oblige us to stay closer and keep their memory alive“said Mons. Bogdan.

Following the Mass, the tribute was paid to the fallen Croatian defenders at the Pieta Croatica monument of the sanctuary.
