25 years of the Officer School

The Officer School “Andrija Matijaš Pauk” of the Croatian Academy on 11 November 2016 marked its 25 th anniversary.

The formal ceremony organised on the occasion was attended by the Croatian Defence Academy Commander, Lieutenant General Slavko Barić, the Deputy Commander, Brigadier General Zdravko Klanac, the head of the Military Schools Centre “Petar Zrinski”, Colonel Zlatko Ferenčević, the Dean of the Academy, Colonel Slobodan Čurčija, the Head of the War School, Colonel Krešimir Trstenjak, the Head of the Command and Staff School, Colonel  Dragan Basić, the Commander of the Officer School, Colonel Slobodan Kratohvil, vicedeans, heads of the various departments, lecturers and students of the Officer School, cadets and other Academy staff.

In his congratulatory address Lt.Gen. Barić recalled the beginnings of the education system, established formally on 11 November 1991 and underlined the need for constant learning and development. The lecturers who constitute the system need to do their utmost, in forming a Croatian officer with character, attitude, perspective, patriotism and ready to defend them as well as their students. 

Colonel Ferenčević said that education was a major component of the CAF human potentials development and that the education curriculum incorporated the acquired teaching experience, the visits to foreign military schools, the experience from the Homeland War and the international missions. He appealed on the staff of the Officer School to remain competent, professional and co-operative

Colonel Kratohvil reminded of the many transformations of the Officer School over the years. Presently it is a component of the Military Schools Centre “Petar Zrinski“ and comprises the Advanced Officer Programme, the Basic Officer Programme and the Cadet Battalion. Along with the transfer of knowledge, the School has a mission to train and educate young officers, who make the future of the Croatian Armed Forces, for their duties.
