Prime Minister and the Defence Committee visit MoD and Barracks “Croatia”

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković and the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević, assistant  ministers and the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces on 24 November 2016 visited the Barracks  “Croatia” in Zagreb.

They were joined by the delegation of the Defence Committee of the Croatian Parliament, who were visiting the Ministry of Defence, and were all welcomed by Major General Mladen Fuzul, the Commander of the Support Command of the Croatian Armed Forces..
The delegation had the opportunity to see first-hand the necessity of improving the living and working conditions of the members of the Croatian Armed Forces.
Prime Minister  Plenković commented on the evident need for investment into the existing accomodation capacities “I hope that during the office of this Government, upon the initiative from the Defence Minister and within the available budget resources we shall gradually invest into the infrastructure to provide the proper conditions for the members of the Croatian Armed Forces as NATO force“.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević appreciated  the delegation’s visiting the Ministry and the Barracks and underlined that the Croatian Armed Forces, a victorious force, had the constant readiness to complete any task assigned.
“The investment into defence is at once the investment into security and prosperity, and is beneficial for the economic recovery. We believe that the Croatian Government will take steps to reverse the defence budget constraint over the past seven to eight years to gradually create the conditions for major activity“, said Minister Krstičević.
The Chief of the General Staff, General Mirko Šundov that the human capital was the main asset of the Croatian Armed Forces and that continuous investments were necessary to enable them build new capabilities.
During the visit to the Ministry of Defence, the delegation of the Defence Committee of the Croatian Parliament  was informed by the Defence Minister and the Chief of the General Staff on the main ongoing activities and projects, as well as on the prospective tasks for the Ministry of Defence and the Croatian Armed Forces.
