“ASDA 2017” presentation conference
A press conference announcing the fourth Adriatic Sea Defense and Aerospace Exhibition and Conference – ASDA 2017″, was held in Split on 14 April 2017, with the attendance by the State Secretary for Defence Zdavko Jakop, the Assistant Defence Minister for Material Resources and Director of ASDA 2017 Roman Mikulić, the Commander of the Croatian Navy, Rear admiral Predrag Stipanović and the government commissioner of the Government of the Republic of Croatia for Split Branka Ramljak.
The State Secretary for Defence Zdravko Jakop as the chaiman of the Organising Committee informed of 131 registered exhibitors (63 Croatian and 68 foreign exhibitors from 22 countries) and 33 foreign delegations. “The main objective of ASDA for the Ministry of Defence and the Government of the Republic of Croatia is to promote of Croatia and of the producers of weapons and military equipment, provide incentive to its economy and to strengthen the overall economic and political relations with the partner and friendly countries“ said the State Secretary“.
The Assistant Defence Minister for Material Resources and the Director of the Exhibition Roman Mikulić presented the main information on ASDA 2017, which will be an opportunity to make business contacts, to exchange the experiences, requests and needs for the benefit of the Croatian manufacturers and to support them in the execution of their export programmes. The Assistant Minister underlined that the ASDA, organised for the fourth time, has become a traditional event withdrawing a growing number of exhibitors and found its place in the calendar of the international military exhibitions.
The Commander of the Croatian Navy, Rear admiral Predrag Stipanović announced a demonstration exercise of joint military and security capabilities of the Croatian Armed Forces, to be conducted within the ASDA 17 in the Barracks“Sveti Nikola“ in Split. The demonstration aims at presenting hte interoperability and preparedness of the forces engaged in the control and protection of maritime security of the Adriatic Sea, and will engage the Croatian Navy, the Croatian Army, the Croatian Air Force, the Special Forces Command with the first-time participation of the U.S.Naval Air Forces. “The joint exercise aims to demonstrate the preparedness of the Croatian Armed Forces members operating the new equipment – the REMUS 100 underwater vehicle, received in 2016 in donation from th4e United States“, explained the Croatian Navy Commander.
The government commissioner for Split Branka Ramljak said the town offered great potential for the events of the scale “I am certain that the many visiting delegations and exhibitors will enjoy their stay in our beautiful town and its historical and cultural heritage: the hosting of ASDA will bring economic benefit for the town, with over 3000 overnight stays booked during the Exhibition.
The ASDA – Adriatic Sea Defense & Aerospace Exhibition and Conference is an international weapons and military equipment exhibtion to take place for the fourth time in Split from 26 -28 April 2017, under the auspices of the Government and supported by the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia. The Exhibition is organised by the TNT Production Inc. from the United States, specialised in organising the military equipment fairs.
