Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Anušić attends the international exercise “Cyber Coalition 23”

On Friday, December 1, 2023 Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ivan Anušić and Chief of the CAF General Staff Admiral Robert Hranj attended the final presentation of NATO’s international exercise “Cyber Coalition 23” held at the Dr. Franjo Tuđman Croatian Defence Academy in Zagreb. It was organised by the Cyber Command on behalf of the Republic of Croatia.

The training group representatives presented the course of the exercise, the goals and challenges they encountered.

NATO’s international exercise “Cyber Coalition” is the leading annual eyercise of collective cyber defense, and is also one of the largest cyber exercises in the world, which collected participants from 26 NATO members and partner countries: Finland, Ireland, Sweden and Switzerland, together with participants from civilian state institutions.

It is being held for the 16th year in a row and is conducted by the Allied Command Transformation (ACT). Croatia has been participating in the exercise since 2009 as an observer, and since 2013 as an active participant. Since 2016 the CIS Centre has been designated as the national exercise coordinator, and since 2019 the Cyber Command has taken over this role as the legal successor.

In addition to the Cyber Command, the organizational units of the Ministry of Defence and the Croatian Armed Forces, state institutions (Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Ministry of the Interior, Security and Intelligence Agency, Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries, Agency for the Protection of Personal Data, State Attorney’s Office, etc.) and academic and industrial community (Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Information Technologies, Algebra University College, Faculty of Law in Osijek, Infigo, Microsoft Croatia, Infobip, CERT, CARNET, etc.) also participate in the exercise.
