New members of the anti-terrorist military police have completed selection training
The members must possess sincerity, dependability, expertise, and the ability to work under the most challenging conditions, according to one of the instructors for selection training
At the Eugen Kvaternik military training area outside Slunj, on Thursday, February 22, 2024, the selection training for the new members of the Anti-Terrorist Military Police Company (ATVP) was concluded.
The last two weeks of their rigorous selection training were spent at the military training range in Slunj by the members of the anti-terrorist military police company.
Following comprehensive medical and psychological testing, candidates undergo assessments for stress, claustrophobia, height, and physical ability in a pre-selection process before beginning the selection training. After that, trainees participate in two weeks of field training simulating various combat scenarios, including high stress, sleep deprivation, hunger, and dehydration.
“For candidates, this selection phase is always the hardest as they have to push themselves to the maximum, which can be the hardest thing to do at times. Members must possess integrity, dependability, and the ability to carry out their tasks under the most trying circumstances. Additionally, humility and consideration for others are quite crucial throughout this training,” said a selection training instructor.
As stated by the head of ATVP member selection training, “Each candidate who decided to take on this challenge should be congratulated, especially those who made it to the end because they have shown exceptional motivation and exceptional results.” Teamwork is crucial for all members of the Anti-Terrorist Military Police.
Following the selection of new candidates, there is a seven- to eight-week training period for anti-terrorist duties, during which an extensive range of specialist military-police skills must be mastered.
Advanced firearms training, urban combat, diving, police sniper training, parachuting, mountain and winter warfare, hostage situation management, skiing, conducting investigations underwater and in inaccessible locations, searching for missing persons, and training along with cooperation with relevant Military Police units of allied nations are all included in anti-terrorist training.
