Meeting of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence of the European Parliament

State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Pjer Simunovic, at the invitation of the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence of the European Parliament (SEDE) Arnaud Danjean, participated on Monday, November 15, at the meeting of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence of the European Parliament held in Brussels, Belgium.

On this occasion, State Secretary Simunovic held for members of the subcommittee presentation on the Croatian contribution to the EU Common Security and Defence Policy. During the meeting, the Subcommittee members were introduced to the significant activities undertaken by the Republic of Croatia as a future EU member state, both in terms of participation in operations and in support for the EU battle groups, and from the point of the completion of negotiations and strengthening the administrative capacity to deal with the activities of the European Union.

During his visit to the European Parliament, State Secretary Simunovic met with Deputy Chief Director for Planning and Managing Crises in the EU Council Claude-France Arnould. During the meeting Simunovic outlined his vision to further Croatian contribution to Common Security and Defence Policy, particularly focusing on the period after the NATO Summit in Lisbon, which should bring a new quality and momentum in relations between NATO and the European Union.
