Anniversary of CAF 154th Brigade

The anniversary of the 154th Brigade of the Croatian Armed Forces was commemorated by laying wreaths, holy mass, an exhibition and solemn academia, on Saturday, 3 December 2011, in Pazin.

Defence Minister Davor Bozinovic congratulated the assembled veterans from Istria the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of 154th brigade, which, as he said, at a critical time for the Republic of Croatia, contributed to the final victory in the Homeland war by its operations in the heart of Croatia, the Lika battlefield,.

Bozinovic said that we need to give special thanks to the deceased member of the Brigade, all the wounded members and all the other killed and wounded members of the Croatian Armed Forces and their families – all who have gave their health and their lives. “You veterans have shown your readiness when needed and showed the best way how to defend and love our only homeland, Croatia. You were the defenders when it was needed the most”, Minister Bozinovic said.

Bozinovic also commented the fact that Croatia was today a proud member of NATO, and soon the member of the European Union, and our safety, the safety of our citizens was guaranteed. All this would not be whether there were no Croatian soldiers; if it was not the crucial fighting for independence and sovereignty of Croatia. Today, when the safety of our citizens was at the highest level, the Armed Forces are, and should be, in that size that was appropriate and optimal for the Republic of Croatia, Bozinovic concluded.

Istrian County Prefect Ivan Jakovcic specifically noted exceptional mobilization response in Istria during the war years, but also the economic contribution of Istria to our victory in the war.

The assembled veterans were addressed by Brigadier General Nikola Skunca, as an envoy of the President, State Secretary in the Ministry of the Family, Veterans and Intergenerational Solidarity Zoran Komar and Pazin Mayor Renato Krulcic.
