Pre-deployment training of CAF members for ISAF operation

A pre-deployment training for members of the CAF National Support Element (NEP) and the garrison operational and mentoring teams (G OMLT), a component of 19th Croatian contingent in the ISAF peacekeeping operation in Afghanistan, was conducted in the Centre for Logistics Training and Doctrine in Pozega from 7 November to 16 December 2011.

Most of the pre-deployment training was conducted at the Centre for Logistics Training and Doctrine in Pozega, while one part of the training was carried out on military training grounds in Gasinci and Slunj. At the end of the training and in accordance with the concept of readiness of the Army, from 12 to 15 December 2011, the evaluation was conducted resulting in that the unit was ready for deployment to the ISAF operation in Afghanistan.

In accordance with the NATO concept of logistic support for reconciling work and procedures in a multinational environment, each country established national support element. Croatian NEP plays a key role in ensuring the timely, continuous, and the required logistical and medical support to members of HRVCON deployed in ISAF.

Garrison OMLT will actively participate in mentoring and training of the Afghan National Army (ANA) on the logistics duties such as operational planning activities, personnel activities, education and training, security, logistics, finance, maintenance and construction of infrastructure, and telecommunications.
