Minister of Defence awarded watch with a dedication to Colonel Ivan Selak

Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović awarded today, on Tuesday, July 17, a watch with dedication to one of the most experienced pilots of the Croatian Air Force Colonel Ivan Selak.

The Minister awarded Selak on the proposal of the Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Drago Lovrić after Selak on June 19 this year, safely landed MiG-21 fighter aircraft, on which, just after the takeoff there was a rupture of the lid on the last cabin. Thanks to exceptional skills of the pilot, Colonel Selak saved his own live, as well as the lives of people on the ground, and saved the aircraft.
Colonel Ivan Selak is a Head of the Division of the flight tests and monitoring of pilots training in the Command of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence.

 

Colonel Selak was born on 27 December 1959 in Bjelovar. He is a member of the Armed Forces since 1992 and participant of the Homeland War. At the beginning of the Homeland War he was a pilot in the first squadron of the light combat aircraft in Čakovec, then commander of the aircraft squadron in the Command of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence, and Commander of the 91st Air Base Pleso. Since 1996 he was assigned as the test pilot in the Control Department of the Aeronautical Technical Institute, and later as the head of the Quality Control Department.
He was awarded with the Homeland War Memorial, Order of Prince Domagoj with a necklace, Homeland Gratitude Memorial and with medals “Flash”, “Storm” and “The extraordinary undertakings.”
