General Lovrić attends meeting of NATO Military Committee

The first year’s session of the NATO Military Committee, which takes place in Brussels on 16 and 17 January 2013, has been participated by the delegation of the Croatian Armed Forces led by the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Drago Lovrić.

Military committee will discuss the cooperation and the current situation in the countries members of the Mediterranean Dialogue, the state of the NATO led ISAF operation in Afghanistan as well as plans for the transfer of responsibility for security of Afghanistan to Afghan Security Forces and supporting Afghanistan security after 2014.

The CHODs will also discuss the military-military cooperation between NATO and Russia, the implementation of international peace support operations led by NATO and setting the dynamics of continued NATO military transformation, which includes the implementation of Smart Defence projects and Connected Forces Initiative.

The two-day meeting of the Military Committee will once again confirm and ensure the development of NATO military structures and military capabilities in support of the fundamental tasks of the Alliance: collective defence, crisis management and developing cooperative security on a global scale.

Several bilateral meetings of the Chief of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces with the chiefs of allied and partner countries is expected on the sidelines of the Military Committee’s meeting.
