Hungarian Armed Forces join “Smart Defence”
The second part of the helicopter teams flight training within the Air Advisory Team Pre-Deployment Training Course began at the 93rd Ar Force Base in the „Zemunik“ Barracks on February 4th 2013, joining the Croatian, the Czech and for the first time the Hungarian Armed Forces teams, while the members of the Slovakian Armed Forces are attending the Course as observers.
The introductory part of the flight course was conducted on a Mi-171 flight simulator in Ostrava, Czech Republic, in the period from January 16th through 27th 2013 , and the latter part is going to last until February 16th and will comprise 30 classroom hours and 7 flying hours on the Mi-171 Sh helicopters respectively. The Course is commanded by a Croatian pilot (Lt. Col Michael Križanec).
The Course constitutes joint training of helicopter crews and maintenance technicians as part of the pre-deployment training and preparation for the mission of an Air Force Mentoring Team within the ISAF Operation in Afghanistan. Jointly designed by the Croatian and the Czech teams, and with advisory support from the United States of America’s institutions and units, the Course has been accepted and filed into the NATO’s “Smart Defence” Initiative and has won the attention of other NATO and Partner countries.
