200 members of CAF fight floods in Osijek and Vukovar
Members of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia have been called in to assist with flood-fighting activities in the Osijek – Baranja County from Friday 7 June 2013 and in the Vukovar – Srijem County from Sunday 9 June 2013, as ordered by the Defence Minister, Ante Kotromanović, upon the request from the Croatian National Protection and Rescue Directorate.
Hundred members of the Mechanised Guard Brigade of the Croatian Army have joined the efforts by the Directorate consisting in reinforcing the dikes at Nemetin near Osijek, Croatia and further hundred have been sent to Vukovar to curb the Danube flood plume.
The members of the Armed Forces will continue to be engaged in the field as estimated by the National Protection and Rescue Directorate.
