24th HRVCON ISAF visits Islamic Centre in Zagreb
As one of their pre-deployment activities, the members of the staff and support component of the 24th HRVCON ISAF on 2 June 2014 visited the Zagreb Islamic Centre
and were received by the Imam Mirza eff. Mešić, who delivered a lecture on the Islam and expressed satisfaction for contributing to ISAF as honourable and responsible mission. “To respect and comprehend the specificity of the Afghan people is a highly important segment of your military training”, said Effendi Mešić.
The Commander of the 24 HRVCON, Colonel Slobodan Kratohvil underlined the importance of the visit to the Centre and familiarisation with the Muslim customs and culture, and appreciated the Imam’s citing real-life examples to enhance the understanding of Afghanistan’s history and religion which would be very useful to the members in constant contact with the local population mentoring and assisting them.
The members of the Contingent also visited the sacral space of the Mosque and the Memorial Park of Croatian Shahids (Muslims fallen in the Homeland War).
