THS helps rescue stranded hiker from Velebit
A crew of the Transport Helicopter Squadron of the 93rd Air Force and Air Defence Base on Wednesday, 2 July 2014 took part in the operation rescuing a stranded hiker from the Velebit Mountains.
The Mi-8 MTV helicopter crew captain, Cpt Stjepan Jović informed that the crew took off on mission from the Split helidrome at 8.30 pm, taking along a team of rescuers of the Split unit of the National Mountain Rescue Service, and were joined by the members of the Zadar unit of the Service..
The wounder hiker was transported to the Zemunik Barracks and subsequently taken to the hospital in Zadar.
Furthermore, on Thursday, 3 July 2014 performed an emergency medical flight to rescue a patient from Orebić, and a Czech tourist from Trpanj (both small towns in the Pelješac Peninsula) to the University Hospital Centre in Split.
The intervention has raised the number of patients transported by military helicopters in 2014 so far to 202.
