The representatives of the U.S. European Command (EUCOM), the U.S. Embassy and the Minnesota National Guard on 8 July 2014 visited the flood-stricken areas in eastern Slavonia

to learn about the projects developed with the prospects of the support from the Command.
The representatives of the Drenovci municipality presented the project for a multi-purpose community centre at Rajevo Selo where the U.S. Army is to take over the renovation in the second phase. «We appreciate our U.S. partners coming today to familiarise with the buildings earmarked for humanitarian assistance in partner countries», said Lt. Col. Zoran Lipošćak, Head of the Planning and International Co-operation Department of the Croatian Army Hq.
The visitors also saw the premises of the «Zvjezdice» Association for Children with Special Needs in Gunja, which were severely damaged in recent floods, and are being reconstructed by members of the Engineer Battalion of the Croatian Army’s Guards Mechanised Brigade, from the funds raised in the charity campaign conducted at the Armed Forces level to assist the residents of the flooded areas. The works, says the Engineer Battalion’s Commander, Major Goran Zubak, are expected to be completed by late September.
