U.S. Congress’ House of Representatives delegation visits Ministry of Defence
Croatian Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović and the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Drago Lovrić on 14 August 2014 received in visit a delegation of the U.S. House of Representatives of the United States Congress, headed by Harold Rogers, the Chairman of the House’s Committee on Appropriations.
The agenda included the discussion on the defence co-operation between the United States and Croatia, the security policy with the emphasis on the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, and the expectations from the upcoming NATO Summit in Wales.
Minister Kotromanović and General Lovrić stressed the importance of continued defence co-operation through joint participation in operations, joint training and exercise events and the benefit of the U. S. military assistance programmes in equipping and modernisation of the Croatian Armed Forces.
The House of the Representatives delegation praised the development of the bilateral co-operation and the achieved level of partnership, particularly in the defence domain, and expressed the appreciation of the Croatian contribution to the stabilisation of the crisis spots in the world. They also suggested that increased economic co-operation would further promote the amicable relations between the two countries.
