Bilateral defence meetings on the margins of NATO Summit
Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović has held a series of bilateral meetings on the margins of the NATO Summit in Wales (with the Macedonian Defence Minister, Zoran Jolevski, the Bulgarian Defence Minister, Velizar Shalamanov and the Finnish Defence Minister, Carl Haglund).
At the meeting with the Macedonian delegation, the two defence ministers exchanged the views on the situation in South-east Europe and in Ukraine respectively, and the regional co-operation and ongoing initiatives; they also considered the possibilities to expand and enhance the existing successful co-operation between the Croatian and Macedonian ministries, primarily to the domain of education and military specialist training, military technical co-operation and the exchange of experiences from the reforms of the respective defence systems and from the Euro-Atlantic integration processes.
The focus of the meeting with the Bulgarian Minister Shalamanov was on the modalities of regional co-operation and of air space control through the Balkan Regional Approach to Air Defence (BRAAD) within the Smart Defence initiative.
With the Finnish counterpart the Ministar Kotromanović discussed the possibilites for expanded bilateral defence co-operation, to include the co-operation in the military technical domain.
