CAF members fight the flood in the Osijek- Baranja County

On 21 September 231 members of the Croatian Armed Forces were in the field fighting the floods in the Osijek-Baranja County; in the area of Karašica and Josipovac there are 113 soldiers preparing sandbags and controlling and reparing the embankments.

They were transported from Nemetin to the endangered area of Karašica on Saturday, 20 September 2014,  to assist the emergency teams.
On 21 September 120 more soldiers were dispatched to Karašica to assist the locally engaged forces – there are presently 351 members of the Croatian Armed Forces (22 motor vehicles, two ambulance vehicles, two mobile workshops and three boats), filling and reinforcing the embankments with bags, and controlling and repairing the embankments. A part of the forces is assigned with constructing the solid crossing to enable movement of the working machines to the embankment.
The Croatian Armed Forces units have been deployed to assist the flood-hit areas pursuant to the Decision of the Defence Minister, Ante Kotromanović, upon the request from the National Search and Rescue Directorate
