NATO Education Team visits Croatian Defence Academy
The NATO Defence Education Enhancement Program Team, responsible for advising NATO and partner countries with their development and transformation of the national security and defence education institutions was on an official visit to the Croatian Defence Academy “Petar Zrinski” in Zagreb from 15 – 18 September 2014.
The DEEP team was received by the Croatian Defence Academy, Lieutenant General Slavko Barić, the Deputy Commander, Commodore Tihomir Erceg, the Dean of the Academy, Colonel Željko Akrap, the Chief of the Centre of Defence and Strategic Studies, Colonel Jugoslav Jozić and representatives of the Ministry of Defence and of the Croatian Armed Forces.
The DEEP Team were familiarised with the ongoing transformation of the Croatian military education system and the proposal put to develop co-operation with international experts experienced in education in the matters national security and defence. In view of the transformation, the assistance was requested from the DEEP team with the review of the curriculum of the new academic military programmes and of the Command and Staff and the War School respectively, as well as with the review of the defined tasks and organisational structure of the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies.
The meeting was concluded with a proposed outline of the future dynamic co-operation between the Croatian Defence Academy and the NATO DEEP Team.
