Croatian Defence Academy marks 23rd Anniversary

The ceremony was attended by the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Drago Lovrić (also as Envoy of the President of the Republic), the Academy Commander, Lieutenant General Slavko Barić, the Vice-rector of the University of Zagreb for Students, Study Programmes and Quality Management, Prof. Ivana Čuković-Bagić and other University representatives, the members and the staff of the Croatian Defence Academy and the students of the diverse military training programmes.
The Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces in his address gave a summary of the activity and the contribution of the Croatian Defence Academy over the past 23 years of its existence, and stressed its recognised importance in the human potential development. “The acquired and continuously applied knowledge has confirmed the Croatian Defence Academy as a well-organised and respectable institution. I expect you to maintain the standard in the administration of the new programmes at high level and the Academy’s reputation at the national and international scale alike“, said General. 
Congratulating the Academy staff on the Anniversary, the Academy Commander, Lieutenant General Slavko Barić reminded of the new study programmes launched in the current academic year developed in a co-operation with the University of Zagreb, namely Military Management and Military Engineering, envisaged to transform the entire military education system. “Our mission is to bring up new generations profile of officers, with sufficient academic merit, capabilities and skills required to interoperate with the officers trained in NATO and the EU“. Lt. Gen. Barić also commended the Academy staff and students’ contribution in conducting the new tasks and activities in the current year. In conclusion he announced the launching of a graduate study programme as well as of programmes designed for the Croatian Navy and the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence.
Traditionally, on the occasion of the Anniversary, the meriting officers of the Croatian Armed Forces and the of the Ministry of Defence have been presented with decorations, promotions and commendations, and the associates of the University of Zagreb with the certificates of appreciation.
