Omani pilot graduation ceremony
The Croatian National Theatre in Zadar on 20 December 2014 hosted the formal graduation ceremony of the members of the Royal Air Force of Oman, who completed the military pilot training in the 93rd Air Base of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence.
The 12 graduating Omani pilots were presented with the certificates and pilot wings of the Royal Air Force of Oman, with the three best-performing pilots receiving the awards of the Croatian Ministry of Defence and the Croatian Armed Forces.
The graduation ceremony was attended by the Chief of the General Staff and the Envoy of the Defence Minister, General Drago Lovrić, the Chief of the Masirah Air Force Base and the Envoy of the RAFO Commander, Colonel Naser Said Al Saaidi, the Commander of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence, Major General Dražen Ščuri and the Commander of the Croatian Army, Major General Mate Ostović, and the Commander of the 93rd Air Base, Colonel Karol Lučan, pilots and flight instructors of the Fixed Wing Squadron and other visitors.
Extending his congratulation to Omani pilots the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Drago Lovrić said it was the day to remember both for the graduating pilots, who joined the élite category of military pilots, in the same town where they took the training eight months earlier, and for the Croatian Armed Forces alike. “The Croatian military pilots strived hard to convey their knowledge and expertise to their Omani colleagues. Your success is our success too. The job of the military pilot entails the commitment to life-long learning, essential profession- and life-wise. You shouldn’t hesitate to take the initiative, while respecting the experience of your senior colleagues, and continue to study and develop their skills”, said General Lovrić who wished the Omani pilotes success in their future careers, and said that he believed that the Sultan of Oman, Qaboos Bin Said Al Said was proud of their success.
The representative of the Royal Air Force of Oman, Group Captain Naser Said Al Saaidi proclaimed the Omani Air Force was reinforced by 12 new pilots and congratulated them, emphasising that they were returning to Oman with new flight expertise and familiarised with Croatia. He also expressed appreciation to the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence for the professional assistance, as well as to the local community for its hospitality.
The Commander of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence, Major General Šćuri stated that “the training was a joint project carried by equal commitment and professionalism from both sides, which was the key to the success of the training“.
Lieutenant Colonel Željko Harapin, the Commander of the Base’s Fixed Wing Squadron and Lieutenant Colonel Goran Huljev, the Commander of the Pilot School “Rudolf Perešin“ extended their congratulations to the graduates too, commending their professionalism and expressing the belief in their best performance in the future careers. Second Lieutenant Sultan Al Kindi addressed the audience on behalf of the Omani pilots appreciating all officers who assisted them during their training in Croatia. He also pledged that the graduates would continue honing their skills and knowledge.
The address was followed by the presentation of the Omani pilots’ certificates of appreciation to their instructors of 93rd Air Base of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence.
