
Sudjelovanje 2. HRVCON-a u NATO vođenoj operaciji Sea Guardian završeno je u utorak, 17. rujna 2019. uplovljenjem raketne topovnjače RTOP-42 "Dubrovnik" u luku Gruž.
2nd HRVCON returns from “Sea Guardian”
The formal homecoming ceremony for the 2nd HRVCON was held on 20 September 2019, within the ceremony marking the 28th anniversary of the establishment of the Croatian Navy in the port of Gruž in Dubrovnik.
The crew and the Missile Boat RTOP 42 “Dubrovnik” were deployed to the Operation Sea Guardian on 30 August 2019, as Croatian contribution to the allied efforts to provide security at sea and build maritime situational awareness and develop maritime security.
The Missile Boat Dubrovnik was assigned an area in the central Mediterranean from west Sicily to Tunisia and towards Malta, tasked with building overall maritime situational awareness, identify and track potential threats and exchange information.
During its engagement in the Operation the Missile Boat “Dubrovnik” sailed ca 3,500 nm. The Boarding Team executed the first realistic opposed boarding of a suspect vessel among the vessels of special interest,and also of boarded a merchant marine vessel, thus highlighting the importance of co-operation with merchant marine.
In its assigned area of responsibility the Contingent patrolled and controlled the vessel activity, located the vessels, practiced with other vessels and exchanged information with the Command and other participants in the area of operations, in particular with the maritime patrol aircraft. The members of the Contingent displayed trainedness, efficiency, sustainability and autonomy throughout the deployment.
The 2nd HRVCON was composed of 33 members of the Croatian Navy, and commanded by Lieutenant Commander (N) Stipe Mornar, and the Commander of the Missile Boat RTOP-42 is Lieutenant (N) Ante Uljević.
