Minister Krstičević meets with EU Commissioner for Crisis Management
The Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević met with the EU Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčić
On the margins of the visit of the College of EU Commissioners headed by the President of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević on 10 January 2020 met with the EU Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič.
Minister Krstičević briefed Commissioner Lenarčić with the operation of the Homeland Security System of the Republic of Croatia
The Ministar presented the priorities and activities of the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the EU, with the focus on the topics to be conducted within the fourth priority: “An Influential Europe“, aimed at maintaining the EU ambition in the domain of defence.
The Minister underlined the role of the Ministry of Defence in the implementation of the goals of the third priority “Europe that Protects”, laying the emphasis on intensified military-civilian co-operation.
The Ministar also briefed Commissioner Lenarčič with the operation of the Homeland Security System of the Republic of Croatia, which ensured co-ordinated and optimised operation of all components of the system in the assistance to the civilian structures.

Commissioner Lenarčič extended appreciation to Croatia for its contribution and engagement in the EU Civil Protection Mechanism rescEU
Minister Krstičević emphasised that the Republic of Croatia was assisting the countries hit by natural disasters with its capabilities and was participating in the European Union activities aimed at strengthening of civil protection mechanisms, including the contribution to the development and implementation of the European Civil Protection Mechanism – rescEU.
The EU Commissioner for Crisis Management Lenarčič wished Croatia and Minister Krstičević successful presidency of the EU and extended appreciation to Croatia for the contribution and engagement in the rescEU, consisiting in two Canadair aircraft of the Croatian Armed Forces.
