Fifth CAF contingent left for KFOR Mission (Kosovo)

The fifth contingent composed of 20 members of the Croatian Armed Forces, mostly from the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence with two transport helicopters Mi-171-SH, was sent on Monday, August 30, in the NATO KFOR (Kosovo Force) peacekeeping operation in Kosovo for a period of four months.

For the second time in the Croatian contingent in the KFOR peacekeeping operation in Kosovo, there is one woman, Master Sergeant who is to be engaged in logistics in National Support Element.

Rotation between the fourth and fifth contingent was made from 23 to 30 August 2010. Commander of the 5th HRVCON in KFOR peacekeeping operation is Lieutenant Colonel Michael Krizanec, who was also the commander of the 1st HRVCON in KFOR.

Fifth Croatian military contingent will be deployed in the area of Bondsteel Camp in Ferizaj / Urosevac. The principal task of the Croatian contingent is hauling people and cargo, and contingent is consisting of three helicopter crews, aviation-technical team for maintenance and national support element, and two transport helicopters Mi-171-Sh.
