Students visited NBC Battalion

A group of 60 students of Textile Technology Faculty of the University of Zagreb (TTF) and from Velika Gorica Polytechnic (VVG) visited “Pukovnik Milivoj Halar” Barracks today, December 14.

The visit was organized as part of cooperation among MOD and these educational institutions to introduce students with facilities and equipment that is used by nuclear-biological-chemical defence battalion (NBC Battalion) of the Army. Students and their teachers, led by Zvonko Orehovec were received by the battalion commander Colonel Slobodan Kratohvil. During the visit, the guests were introduced with the structure, tasks, activities and resources of the battalion.

VVG Crisis management students have a number of common points with the activities of the NBC Battalion, while for TTF students visit was organized as part of the materials and protective clothing course. During a visit, Orehovec said that the visit was very important in the education of students, especially considering that many of them in the future would likely cooperate with the Ministry of Defence and CAF.
Colonel Kratohvil said that the visit was another contribution to the expansion of civil-military cooperation. “NBC Battalion work, in case of threats, is directly connected with actions of the competent civilian structures, so the Battalion is always opened for exchange of knowledge and experience” Colonel Kratohvil said.

VVG assistant Marina Crnko also thanked the members of the NBC Battalion on the visit, emphasizing that the practical part of teaching was very interesting for students thanks to the openness of soldiers for all their questions.
