Lieutenant Colonel Ivo Martinic receives French military medal

Lieutenant Colonel Ivo Martinic, a staff officer of General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces received French military decoration “Medal Nationale – Armée de Terre” silver line in the Embassy of the French Republic to the Republic of Croatia, on Tuesday, 8 February 2011.

In the presence of the Chief of the GS Personnel Directorate Brigadier General Tomo Medved, Deputy Director of the MOD International Defence Cooperation Department Brigadier Ivica Matesic, and other guests from the Ministry of Defence, Armed Forces and the staff of the Embassy of the French Republic, Lieutenant Colonel Ivo Martinic was presented with medal by the Ambassador of French Republic to the Republic of Croatia Jérôme Pasquier.

On this occasion, French ambassador stressed the importance of education on the French Naval School (College Interarmée de Défense) and the importance of applying the acquired knowledge in their daily work, in national and international environment. Lieutenant Colonel Martinic thanked on the awarded medal, saying that lessons learned from the operational planning would be of particular use in a future mission for which he has been preparing.

Lieutenant Colonel Ivo Martinic has been a member of the Croatian Armed Forces since 1992. In his military career he served as military advisor in the Mission of the Republic of Croatia to NATO (2000-2003) and act as a military attaché to the Benelux countries (2003-2006). He attended the French war school since 2008 until 2009.
