MOD State Secretary Simunovic at the CAX 11 exercise

State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Pjer Simunovic attended today, 5 May 2011, a presentation of the “CAX 11” exercise  which has been conducted from 2 to 6 May 2011 at the Croatian Military Academy (HVU) “Petar Zrinski”.

This is the seventh edition of the computer-aided staff exercise, which primary goal is training HVU students to participate in the preparation and implementation of strategic operations, on operational and tactical level, on the national and international level, on the command and staff duties. Exercise scenario includes activities in the area of ​​fictional country in the frame of NATO led peacekeeping operation under the UN mandate, in accordance with Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. Participants of the exercise are teachers and students of the War College, Command and Staff College, Advanced Officer School, High NCO School and other HVU employees and employees of the Simulation Center of the Army’s Training and Doctrine Command (ZOD).

Exercises Manager is the HVU Director Major General Mirko Sundov, Commander of the Exercise is Brigadier General Slaven Zdilar, Director Colonel Miroslav Colic, and Evaluation Team Leader is Captain Marileo Stanicic. The exercise is carried out using a JCATS simulation system with which is equipped Simulation Center of ZOD.

MOD State Secretary Simunovic said that “CAX” exercise is very important, since exercise helped to develop the interoperability of all CAF levels with the Allied Armed Forces, in complex and real circumstances. He noted that exercise, which coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Croatian Armed Forces, symbolically showed how the CAF now acts as a NATO member, and actively contributes to world peace.
