Croatian Air Force jets escorted the aircraft with the Holy Father

Members of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence (HRZ & PZO), today, Saturday, 4 June 2011, performed the air policing task over the Republic of Croatia during arrival of the Holy Father to Croatia.

Two MiG – 21 took off from Pula, greeted the aircraft with the Holy Father when entering the Croatian air space and escorted it to the Pleso airport, after which they returned to the airport in Pula.

MiG-21bis was operated by Captain Zvonimir Milatovic, while the MiG-21umd were operated by Captain Luka Tomljenovic and co-pilot Major Adrian Celija, Commander of a Fighter jets squadron of 91st Air Base of the Croatian Air Force and Air Defence.
