Farewell visit of Canadian Defence Attaché

The former Canadian Defence Attaché to Croatia, Captain Karel Heemskerk paid a visit on Monday, 20 June 2011, to the Ministry of Defence.

During a farewell visit, the military attaché Heemskerk met with Deputy Chief of General Staff for Operations, Admiral Zdenko Simicic, with whom he discussed the recent visit of the Canadian ship to the Croatian Navy and City of Split, and the future cooperation between the two armed forces.

The Canadian Defence Attaché also met the director of the MOD Defence Policy Directorate Dragan Lozancic who used the occasion and thanked for support and achievement of excellent cooperation in military education, and during the meeting they also discussed the mentoring activities of the Afghan National Army in ISAF in Afghanistan.

Navy Captain Karel Heemskerk was a Canadian Defence Attaché accredited to the Republic of Croatia with headquarters in Budapest from July 2009.
