Commemoration of 21st Anniversary of “Plitvice” action and the killing of policemen Josip Jović

The wreath laying ceremony at a memorial at the site of the suffering of Josip Jović, besides the members of his family and friends, was attended by Croatian President Ivo Josipović, Deputy Minister of Defence Višnja Tafra, Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Drago Lovrić, delegations of the Armed Forces , Police Directorate, Croatian Parliament, Government, representatives of counties and municipalities, veterans associations from the Homeland war, many friends, comrades and participants of the “Plitvice” action.

Addressing the present, President Josipović stressed the importance of values that were defended during the Homeland war and that they were built into the foundations of the present and future, prosperous European Croatia.

As part of the commemoration of 21st Anniversary, a monograph of Special police unit Rakitje 90/91 was presented on the Plitvice Lakes. Besides Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Drago Lovrić as a representative of the Minister of Defence and retired General Josip Lucić, the presentation of the monograph was attended by Veterans Minister Predrag Matić, Deputy Interior Minister Evelin Tonković, retired Lieutenant Colonel Antun Moguš and director of the Croatian Memorial and Documentation Centre of the Homeland War Ante Nazor.

This monograph was the fifth in a row and continues the project of monographs on the Guards Brigade and troops from the Homeland War. Lieutenant General Drago Lovrić, when representing it, stressed his satisfaction that the MOD and Armed Forces have been participating in such an important project that documents the truth about the Homeland war and Croatia’s recent history and has announced the release of new monographs in May this year.
