Round table “The Strategic Defence Review” at Croatian Military Academy
A round table “The Strategic Defence Review” held on Wednesday, April 11, at the Croatian Military College “Petar Zrinski”, allowed a discussion on the draft of the Strategic Defence Review, presented by mid-March, to a large amount of participants, from both the military and the civil society structures.
Besides the Assistant Defence Minister Dragan Lozančić, Deputy Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Slavko Barić, Commander of the Army Major General Dragutin Repinc and representatives of the Defence Policy Directorate of the Ministry of Defence, the debate has brought together the participants from the Faculty of Political Science, Institute of Economics, Faculty of Organization and Informatics from Varaždin, Center for Peace Studies, Transparency International, the Institute of International Affairs, OPSA and others.
In his opening address Assistant Defence Minister Dragan Lozančić said that on the drafting of the Strategic Defence Review, one of the basic documents in the field of defence, was engaged 22 expert working groups since mid-2010, and that it took into account changes in the Republic of Croatia and its neighbourhood. Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans and Resources Lieutenant General Slavko Barić recalled the importance of the Strategic Defence Review, a document that establishes the direction and dynamics of development of the defence system and define the required capabilities that the Croatian Armed Forces should develop in the coming time.
