Aircraft emergency landing exercise conducted in Zemunik

A military exercise of emergency landing of Pilatus PC-9M aircraft, called “Lift 2012″was conducted today, May 24, by the Aeronautical Technical Battalion of the 93rd Air Force Base in “Zemunik” Barracks.

The exercise was conducted to train and test all components of the forces that would be engaged in emergency situations regarding the aircraft emergency landing. The procedure foresees that after taking care of the crew, emphasis is given on the prevention of further damage of the airplane, taking care of the remaining fuel and to prevention of environmental pollution, followed by rapid removal of the airplane in order not to disturb the regular air landing and takeoff operations in compliance with all security and other procedures prescribed by aircraft manufacturers.

Commander of the 93rd Air Force Base, Colonel Miroslav Kovač evaluated the exercise as an event of great significance for the unit, which in the best possible way serve as checking of coordination, procedures and standards for all services that in the short term need to respond efficiently to attain and maintain the operational readiness in possible situations of aircraft emergency landing.
