Kotromanović received Croatian Olympic competitors – CAF members

Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović received on Tuesday, July 17, the Croatian Olympic competitors, members of the Croatian Armed Forces – rower’s foursome Valent Sinković, Martin Sinković, Damir Martin, David Šain and shooters Snježana Pejčić and Bojan Đurković ahead of their travel at the upcoming Olympic Games in London, and wished them every success.

 

Today’s reception at the Ministry of Defence of the 6 out of the 14 Croatian Olympians who are also CAF members was attended by the President of the Croatian Olympic Committee Zlatko Mateša and Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Drago Lovrić.

Defence Minister Ante Kotromanović stressed that he was proud of them and added that at the Olympics they would represent the Ministry of Defence, and that their success would be the success of the MOD. He stressed that the Ministry of Defence would continue its successful cooperation with the Croatian Olympic Committee, and “jokingly ordered athletes to return with one of the medals from the Olympics”. He recalled that the Defence Ministry provides assistance to the Croatian athletes in particular pointing out that during the preparation may use “Kovčanje” military base and Lora port in Split.

The President of the Olympic Committee, Zlatko Mateša wished athletes a good fortune at the Olympics and thanked Minister Kotromanović for the assistance provided to athletes by the Croatian Defence Ministry. He recalled that similar forms of cooperation between the Olympic Associations and the Armed Forces also have other NATO countries and expressed hope that such cooperation would be further improved. He also pointed out that he expected medals from our Olympians from the upcoming Olympic Games in London.
