CAF engagement at fire site near Selce
Members of the Guards Motorised Brigade, who were last night, July 23, engaged at a fire site in the area Selce – Crikvenica to help the fire-fighting forces and the local population to fight the fire that has devastated the area mentioned above, participated in the fire-fighting all last night along with members of the fire brigades.
Along with 100 members of the Guards Motorised Brigade, six trucks, military workshop vehicle and medical ambulance were engaged at the fire site. Members of the Guards Motorised Brigade in the morning were given rest in Crikvenica sports hall.
During the morning hours today, July 24, three aircraft Canadair CL-415 took off from Zemunik Military Air Base, which got involved in fire-fighting activities on the spot. Soon they were joined by a fourth Canadair. During two hours of harmonised action of air and ground forces, fire was put under control.
The Air Force returned to the Zemunik Air Base at about 10.00 hours, while members of the Guards Motorised Brigade were still employed at the fire site, in case the fire is activated again.
