ORP 251 “Wodnik” visits Croatian Navy
The Polish Navy training ship ORP “Wodnik” is moored in the Lora Navy Port, visiting the Croatian Navy as a 3-day bilateral activity with the Republic of Poland.
The vessel was built in the Northern Gdansk Shipyard in 1975. During the Gulf War period (1990 to 1991) it was temporarily converted into a hospital and evacuation ship.
The ship’s displacement is 1745 t, length 72.24m, beam 12m and draught 4.1m and its armament includes 1 30-mmAK-230 and 2 23mm ZU-23-2Ms. The crew is composed of 115 persons, amongh whom 52 cadets.
Cdr Pavel Ogorek, the Ship’s Commander, is to visit the Croatian Navy Flotilla Headquarters and will familiarise with its history, development and activities,as well as with the Navy fleet.
The “Wodnik” remains in Split until 20 June 2014.
