Armed Forces receive Golden Coat of Arms of Županja
On the occasion of its Day, marked on 28 August 2014, the town of Županja conferred the Golden Coat of Arms on the Croatian Armed Forces for the outstanding dedication demonstrated in defending the wider area from the disastrous floods in May.
The Coat was awarded to the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces, General Drago Lovrić, during the formal session of the Town Council of Županja.
General Lovrić expressed warm appreciation for the recognition, which meant a great pride for the Armed Forces. “We have a saying that a friend in need is a friend indeed, and I assure you that the Županja area, just as any other part of Croatia, can always rely on the Croatian military, who will always assist you in the event of need”.
General Lovrić also underlined the readiness demonstrated by the Croatian Armed Forces with all tasks, including the assistance to the civilian institutions.
A Static Display of the technical assets and weapons of the Croatian Armed Forces was held on the occasion too, in front of the “Stjepan Gruber” Native Museum in Županja. The visitors had an opportunity to see a M-84 tank, a M-80 A infantry fighting vehicle and an amphibious vehicle, as well as the infantry weapons and the equipment used by the Guards Mechanised Brigade of the Croatian Army.
Following the session, General Lovrić, accompanied by the Commander of the Croatian Army, Lieutenant General Dragutin Repinc and the Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command, Brigadier General Ivan Jurić, visited the Centre for children with special needs titled “Zvjezdice” in Gunja, which has been undergoing reconstruction by members of the Croatian Armed Forces.
