Minister Kotromanović welcomes Defence Minister of Azerbaijan

The Croatian Defence Minister, Ante Kotromanović, on 10 March 2015 welcomed the Minister of Defence of Azerbaijan, General Zakir Hasanov,during his two-day visit to the Republic of Croatia.

The ministers reviewed the good bilateral relations and discussed the prospects for future co-operation, either on a bilateral basis or within the NATO’s Partnersip for Peace programme, joined by Azerbaijan in 1994. They also took the opportunity to discuss the political and security situation in East Europe and South Caucasus  the instability in the Middle East and the repercussions on the security of Europe. They commented the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Syria, in view of their complexity and severe humanitarian impact on the regional and global security. 
As an impetus for expansion of military co-operation, the Croatian side extended an invitation to Minister Hasanov and his staff to visit the Adriatic Sea Defense and  Aerospace Exhibition to be held in Split, Croatia in spring 2015. 
Croatian Minister reiterated strong commitment of the Republic of Croata to the Euro-Atlantic perspective of the countries in Southeast Europe , and the assistance it would continue to provide to them as full NATO and the EU member, and  would also sponsor the enhancement of Azerbaijan’s relations with the two organisations. Furthermore, the two sides welcomed continued joint engangement within Resolute Support  Mission.
The Azerbaijani Minister also met with the President of the Republic, Mrs Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović and the Deputy Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Joško Klisović.
