CHOD of Lithuania visits Ministry of Defence

Minister Krstičević and the Lithuanian Chief of Defence affirmed the excellent relations between the two friendly countries, reflecting in the good bilateral defence co-operation.  They also discussed the joint engagement of the members of the Croatian and Lithuanian Armed Forces within NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence in the German-led Battlegroup in Lithuania from late 2017 till June 2018, which promoted the interoperability and the overall relations between the two armed forces. 

Minister Krstičević announced renewed participation of the Croatian Armed Forces in NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence in Lithuania as of early 2020. Lt. Gen. Žukas  extended appreciation for the Croatian contribution as a proof of alliance and solidarity with Lithuania and other Baltic countries.  

The two sides concluded to continue the bilateral activities by the Croatian Army and the Lithuanian Land Force and to enhance the military technical co-operation and co-operation in education. 

Minister Krstičević commended the Lithuanian Armed Forces’ using the protective helmets by the Croatian company “Šestan-Busch“, and expressed support to continued co-operation with other  Croatian defence equipment manufacturers and invited the Lithuanian firms to display at the forthcoming Adriatic Sea Defense and Aerospace Exhibition in Split from 10 – 12 April 2019. 

Lt. Gen. Žukas also met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces General Mirko Šundov, with whom he discussed the past co-operation and exchanged the experiences from the participation in international peace missions and the suggestions for expanded military co-operation of the respective armed forces. 

During his official visit to Croatia the CHOD of the Republic of Lithuania is also visiting the Croatian Air Force and the manufacture plant of “Šestan-Busch“ in Prelog and of the company “HS Produkt“ in Karlovac.
