Chinese naval fleet visits Split
The Chinese naval escort fleet (the LINYI and WEIFANG missile frigates and Weinshanhu supply ship) on 1 June 2015 entered the Lora Navy Port in Split for a visit to the Croatian Navy and Split.
A formal welcoming ceremony was held on the occasion, attended by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Croatia, H. E. Deng Ying, the Defence Attaché, Col. Jing Chunlu and a number of Chinese people living in the region.
The Croatian Navy Commander, Commodore Predrag Stipanović delivered a welcome address to the visitors on the occasion of the “ first ever visit of the Chinese Navy ships to the Croatian Navy“.
The Commander of the Chinese fleet, Rear admiral Jiang Guoping appreciated the welcome to ther Republic of Croatia and commended the importance of the visit for the two Navies and countries alike, in view of the 10th anniversary of comprehensive cooperative partnership between China and Croatia.
The welcoming ceremony was followed by the meeting held by Commodore Stipanović with the Chinese Navy representatives in the Croatian Navy Headquarters, presenting the Navy’s organisation, mission and tasks, with the emphasis on the Croatian Navy members participation in peace support missions (the AVPD team deployment in ATALANTA, and the forthcoming dispatch of a Croatian Navy vessel to the Operation “Triton“ in the Mediterranean.
The Chinese naval fleet visit programme comprises meetings covering the tasks of the NCO Corps, the SOF, AVPD teams and logistic support; the touring of Chinese ships by the Croatian Navy members, and of the Croatian Navy vessels and facilities by the visitors.
The Chinese fleet will be open to public for tours on 2-3 June 2015 (from 16-19).
