George Marshall scholars visit Croatian Defence Academy

The Croatian  Defence Academy “Dr. Franjo Tuđman” on 4 April 2019 hosted a conference of European Center for Security Studies George C. Marshall dedicated to the regional co-operation and Euro-Atlantic integration.

The conference was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević, by the U.S. Ambassador to Croatia H. E  Robert Kohorst, the Director of RACVIAC – Centre for Security Co-operation MG Jeronim Bazo, the head of the  Marshall Center’s Alumni Scholars Program  Christopher Burelli and the President of the Alumni Association of Croatia Nikola Brzica.

The European Centre for Security Studies George C. Marshall was founded by the United States and the Federal Republic of Germany. It has more than 13, 000 alumni from 155 oountries, and more than 240 Croatian alumni.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević addressed the 70th anniversary of NATO Alliance and the 10th anniversary of the membership of Croatia, which has constantly affirmed itself as a credible and reliable Ally and actively contributed to the world and European security building processes. 

“The European security environment has changed significantly. The Republic of Croatia is aware of its responsiblity of a NATO member for the neighbouring countries, and has affirmed itself as one of the strongest advocates of further enlargement of the Alliance to southeast Europe and as a key stability factor of the area. The region has to stay on its  Euro-Atlantic path. The countries of southeast Europe are jointly working to develop the defence capabilities  thereby contributing to the overall NATO capabilities”, said Minister  Krstičević.

Minister Krstičević announced the international exercise “Immediate Response”, and the prospective Adriatic Sea Defense & Aerospace Exhibition and Conference – an international exhibition of weapons and military equipment manufacturers to be held in Split from 10 – 12 April 2019 for the fifth time.
