ASDA 2019 opens

The fifth ASDA – Adriatic Sea Defense and Aerospace Exhibition and Conterence was opened formally in the Spaladium Arena in Split on 10 April 2019.

Alongside the representatives of the exhibiting companies, the opening ceremony was attended by the Envoy of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević, the Envoy and Defence and National Security Advisor to the President pf the Republic Zrinko Petener, the Chief of the General Staff of the Croatian Armed Forces General Mirko Šundov, the Director of TNT Production Justin Webb, the Envoy of the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Petar Škorić, the Mayor of Split Andro Krstulović Opara, the Prefect of the Split-Dalmatia County Blaženko Boban, defence ministers and chefs of general staffs of foreign countries, the representatives of the Ministry of Defence and of the Croatian Armed Forces and of other government institutions and of defenders associations.

The international exhibition of weapons and military equipment is taking place for the fifht time in Split from 10 -12 April 2019, under the sponsorship of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and organised by the U.S.’ TNT Production Inc. and with the support from the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia. As many as 185 renowned exhibitors from 26 countries and 33 senior foreign delegations are expected to attend it. 

The Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Damir Krstičević in his address said that the ASDA 2019 was the ASDA 2019 was the largest exhibition to date and affirmed as a first-rate business event and a spot to learn abput new products and technologies. The Minister underlined the importance of ASDA for Croatia and said that Croatia as NATO member was safe but that did not imply inactivity but constant developing of the potentials of response to potential threats by all the responsible entities.

“We are particularly proud of the Croatian defence industry, which has found its place at the demanding international market and has equipped the Croatian Armed Forces. A strong defence industry means a strong armed forces, and we shall provide support in the future as well. ASDA brings a significant contribution to the development of the Croatian defence industry and the Croatian economy“, said the Minister.

The Envoy and Advisor to the President of the Republic Zrinko Petener underlined the large number of the visiting delegations and exhibitors at ASDA and said the Exhibition set the bar higher. “The ASDA is a model of the synergy between the state, the economic and scientific entities and is a essential component of the homeland security system.” 

The Director of TNT Production Justin Webb in the capacity of ASDA organiser extended appreciation to all contributors to the Exhibition, in particular to the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Defence for their crucial and lasting support.

The Prefect of the Split Dalmatia County Blaženko Boban said ASDA was the main exhibition of military equipment in central and southeast Europe showcasing the potential of the Croatian defence industry and of Split and the Split-Dalmatia County. 

The Mayor of Split Andro Krstulović Opara underlined the importance of ASDA was one of the major fairs held in Split and in Croatia. 

Minister Damir Krstičević and Director direktor TNT Productiona Justin Webb signed a protocol on further co.operation between MoD and TNT Production, announcing the ASDA eents in the coming years. 
The visiting delegations toured the exhibition area in the Spaladium Arena, and later attended the demonstration of joint military security capabilities.

The ASDA 2019 is to feature an international panel discussion of representatives of the defence industry, titled “Croatian defence industry and new technologies” (on 11 April) and a static display of the weapons and military equipment used by the Croatian Armed Forces in the Barracks “Fleet Admiral Sveto Letica Barba” for the citizens and visitors of Split (from 10-12 April).
